New Video posted! - How to change your browser User-Agent field!

Changing your browser’s User-Agent is such an easy task, it is almost unbelievable how many websites continue to use this as a technique to authenticate Search Engine Bots such as Googlebot. In this video we will change the User-Agent string of the Firefox browser using the general.useragent.override runtime configuration.

BTW anyone know how to change the User-Agent in Internet Explorer? I haven’t checked it yet, but i am guessing if it were at all possible, it would probably be a registry setting somewhere.

Traffic Surge on SecurityTube.Net !

Hello All,

We released the site worldwide on SecurityFocus mailing lists yesterday! The number of hits which we got was so overwhelming that the site even went down for a momentary 2-3 minutes in between. We are sorry this happened and will try to scale the hosting, as the number of visitors increase!

Below is the visitor stats for the first 2 minutes after the announcement!

If you run into any problems while accessing anything on this site, would request you to drop an email to [ feedback [_at_]securitytube[_dot_]net ] .

SecurityTube has an embed option!

Hello All!

SecurityTube allows for video embedding. So if you run a blog or a website which could use any of the video content, we encourage you to use embed our videos. The process of embedding is easy enough - simply copy the code in the embed tab in the video player and paste it into the html code of your web page.

Please let us know your feedback on both the main website player and the embed player. We will definitely add any needed features ASAP.

Here is a sample embedding:

SecurityTube.Net Beta is finally up!

Hello All,

After over 2 months of hard work, SecurityTube is finally up! We cannot describe how happy we feel today!

We had a lot of fun creating the infrastructure, coding the site and then finally making the videos.

SecurityTube is currently seeded with around 90 videos. We have categorized the videos into 4 broad classifications:

  1. Coding - these videos focus on teaching programming basics
  2. Tools - focus is primarily on to understand the tool’s working
  3. Basics - concentrate on the basics of various subjects (for newbies)
  4. Fun - on a lighter vein :)

As you can currently see the site does not have many features you would find on e.g YouTube

We are working on adding more and more features. Some of them are:

  • Videos upload page (will be up by this week)
  • User login/management
  • Commenting facility on individual pages

We would really love your feedback into what all features you need to make you use this site better. Also, we would like to hear about any problems you are facing while viewing the videos or embedding them in your websites.

Please feel free to leave a comment or write to use directly at [ feedback [at] securitytube.net ] !
