Description: Abstract
In the past few years digital speed limit signs (VSL, Variable Speed Limit) have began to pop up in more and more locations. How do these devices receive their information? How secure is it? What’s to stop someone from setting a sign’s speed limit to 99 MPH?
In my talk I speak about the technology behind these signs (antennas, boards, power), the methods of communication used (cellular & bluetooth), what securities are used (if any) and go over the potential for gaining access to the signs and systems.
Bio
Professionally, I am a Security Analyst working in Atlanta, GA. However at the end of the day I spend my time researching on my current project of VSLs, contributing to a few projects on github and always expanding my skills in the world of pentesting.
