Description: Welcome to Part 30 of the WLAN Security Megaprimer! Please start this series by watching Part 1 http://www.securitytube.net/video/1756, if you have not done so already.
In this video, we will go in-depth into EAP-MD5 and use it on a Wireless Network to provide authentication. It is to be noted that EAP-MD5 is hardly used anymore over wireless due to security issues which we will discuss in the next video.
We first begin by understanding the different packets involved in a complete EAP-MD5 authentication both on the wireless (AP to Client) and wired (AP to RADIUS) side. We create an easy to replicate setup using BT5 and run 2 instances of wireshark simultaneously to capture packets on both interfaces.
We finally trace through the packets to understand the EAP-MD5 authentication end-to-end using both a correct username / password pair and an incorrect one.
Look forward to your comments.
