Though one cannot rule out the possibility of an early April Fool joke :) Even if this were a serious possibility, don't countries have regulations against putting things in the air? I mean can anyone just put a satellite up there? :)
I seriously doubt if any country has such provisions to allow citizens to use the atmosphere as they like :) If everyone could do this, could something not crash airplanes when they land or take off :) Just kidding :)
Well, I am unaware of the laws, I just wonder, what about if the drone is over global waters, do global waters have any restrictions or something?
Funny, but "No Mans Land" could end up becoming "Everyone's Land" ... in the sense anyone could shoot it down there as nobody would interfere.
Btw, original article for everyone's reference:

@Vivek-Ramachandran
That is so true...
(Thanks fot the article reference )
Definitely looks like a joke to me... The logistics are almost impossible with current technology.
joke, a mix with Solar Impuls and sputnik.
Well guys joke or not, in my country the technology sites have posted it in the top news section.
I definitely agree with Vivek though. Logic says that someone would need to acquire a license to do such stuff by going through complicated law stuff. And pirate bay's forte is certainly not getting legalized :D.
So yea probably a joked that fooled a lot
@Crone the really funny thing though is that some of these news portals seem to be reporting it with such seriousness that casual non-tech readers may even believe its for real :) -- which means most govts. would :)
Well today even the Internet media, even simple blogs start to get attracted more by the viewcount of their articles rather than than their honesty/informative content.
Juicy topics like these bring people and money. But I guess we are going off topic now :D
