Description: The curse of security consultants is variance. Schedules slip, scopes
creep, bugs elude, payments vanish, experts resign, and juniors make
dumb mistakes. These unstable footings serve to limit the growth of
many security firms to just a few dozen experts. It is much worse for
those who specialize in software security, as the product under review
may change faster and in more complex ways than the reviewer can
reasonably observe.
My partners and I at Leviathan Security Group designed this business
to improve that condition. We set out to apply a capability maturity
process to the security needs of early stage software teams and found
a niche that could be a growth practice for any security service
provider.
