Description: In this episode of Hack of the Day - we will look at how to create a Wireless SSID Sniffer in just 10 lines of Python. Rather than just type the code in a script and run it - we first take a look at Scapy - the library we plan to use for this course. We then set the sniffing interface to "mon0" and sniff packets, print them a a PDF and understand the packet layout. After this, we write our 10 line SSID sniffer using scapy and remove duplicate entries by maintaining a list of access point mac address we have already displayed to the user:

hi there, from guatemala,
@vivek you have a unique way to teach, thanks a lot for sharing your time and your knowledge.
A nice little script to run on one of my drones running The Deck! Thanks for that.
exact "TEN" lines of py:) I'm just curious what do you think about ruby Vivek? Should i learn py or ruby ? I did lot of research about that but i want to hear that answer from professional as well as you are.. i will be appreciate if you could answer my question, thank you.
Welcome back Vivek! I have a question(sorry..little off topic). Is there a bluetooth adapter that would allow sniffing in promiscous mode?
Welcome back Vivek!
I'm glad to see HOD is back up for the time being!
I would like to see if possible dll injection. I of course can't speak for a group but I think this would be interesting to understand more.
@TeeGee , Yes, you should look at Ubertooth. it's expensive you might be able to build your own for cheaper.
if you're interested mate, http://ubertooth.sourceforge.net/
Cheers!
@esvinusac Thanks Buddy!
@ppolstra I am eagerly waiting so I can order the Deck online :) Btw, if you get time please do a video on the creation of The Deck. Would be fun to see
@pirabog Both are good enough for most tasks. IMHO Python has more support libs for security specific tasks.
@ApertureSecurity Great to have you back too bud! There is a DLL Injection video on the website by Prasanna - check it out and if you need more detail, then let me know.
@TeeGee ApertureSecurity has the answer :)
Btw guys, I also converted this into a blog post: http://hackoftheday.securitytube.net/2013/03/wi-fi-sniffer-in-10-lines-of-python.html let me know what you guys think?
welcome back vivek
thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge.
