Description:

A lot of WiFi admins believe that Hidden SSIDs are a security feature. This is an absolute myth. Hidden SSIDs do make a hacker's job marginally tedious but in no way provide protection. In this video, Mr TAPE shows us how to use MDK3 along with a dictionary to crack hidden SSIDs. You can read the detailed blog post on his site. Another way to unearth hidden SSIDs is to passively sniff the air and wait for a client to connect to the network. The Client's probe request packet will contain the SSID. A variation of this attack is to de-authenticate all clients in the vicinity and wat for them to try and associate back by sending probe request packets.
